I had such a blast at the 2017 Grate Groan Up Spelling be in High River on Saturday! In one of many projects I’ll be working on for Literacy For Life, I was delighted to donate my time and videography skills to produce a short video about the day! The Grate Goan Up Spelling Bee is the annual fundraiser for Literacy for Life, and always draws a good crowd! Follow along and check out this Calgary Videography Project for Literacy For Life!
In a fun-filled afternoon, what started with eleven teams was slowly whittled down to the last two – and finally the winner, the Our High River Wisenheimers, who won it with “calisthenics.”
Each team is encouraged to dress up in a team outfit and fundraise for the Literacy For Life Program. Each team had a unique and interesting theme to their costumes, as you can see in the video! My personal favourite costumes were “The Kaleidoscopes – High River Rotary” team!
Along with the spelling bee, there was also a cardboard crafting station, as well as rock painting!
I LOVE Literacy for Life – this organization is dedicated to helping children through to adults with learning! We were so lucky to have access to the Literacy
for Life Building Blocks program last year, as my daughter was struggling through Grade 1. This is such a valuable program to our community, and really made a huge difference in her ability to focus on her school work, and begin to enjoy school!
Thanks again to Literacy for Life for inviting me out to be a part of this fun afternoon! I think next year I’ll have to compete, and me and my friend already have an idea for a team costume! If you’ve got an idea for a Calgary Videography project, I would be thrilled to work with you on them! Get in touch and we can come up with a plan for your own social media film!
